Try Pretty Urls.

Is it worth using it or better sticking to SEO4SMF mod?

Seems using Pretty Urls is simple and gives you less pain than installing SEO4SMF.

Im pretty sure this is the mod that killed my forum. Every time I tried changing my theme, unistall packages, post new messages, I was redirected to the homepage.

I just finished reinstalling everything and was thinking pretty urls instead,. Hope you get this worked out.

Webmastertalks is down so I'll ask here,

I get an "Undefined index: username" in Search.php error, and its from the code this mod places, specifically:

$context['search_results'][]=array('id'=>$message['ID_TOPIC'],'subject'=>$message['subject'],'board_id'=>$message['ID_BOARD'],'board_name'=>$message['bName'],'member_name'=>$memberContext[$message['ID_MEMBER']]['username'],'member_id'=>$message['ID_MEMBER'],'last_member_name'=>$message['last_member_name'],'last_member_id'=>$message['last_member_id']);

Anyone on the same boat?

I have same error but i can't fix it.

Try this:

replace:
$context['search_results'][]=array('id'=>$message['ID_TOPIC'],'subject'=>$message['subject'],'board_id'=>$message['ID_BOARD'],'board_name'=>$message['bName'],'member_name'=>$memberContext[$message['ID_MEMBER']],'member_id'=>$message['ID_MEMBER'],'last_member_name'=>$message['last_member_name'],'last_member_id'=>$message['last_member_id']);

So far that error is gone but i try to find if other bugs are coming cause of this change.

I guess I'll try just deleting that too, not sure why the whole line is there for though...

edit: theres some mention of the error here: http://www.webmasterstalks.com/seo-4-smf/0-2-6-1-released-t1037.0.html but with no solution.

and more info here: http://www.webmasterstalks.com/bugs/erro-8-undefined-index-username-t1532.0.html

We are testing almost all possible functions of my forum with my moderators and so far no problems or errors found since i deleted 'username'.

can i use this mod for smf 1.1.5?

4LP3RUZ1

Yes, I installed the mod first, then upgraded to 1.1.5, but I think you can do it in reverse too. 1.1.5 is not a major upgrade on the source files.

Mr. Jinx

I have been using SEO4SMF for some time now, but because there has not been any development for this mod for a long time, I think it's better to switch to something else.

It's still works witht 1.1.4 (and maybe 1.1.5) but it sure isn't optimal.

I think prettyurls is a good alternative. The url looks a bit better also.
Pretty url = "http://dev.eldacar.com/smf/pretty-urls-discussion/generating-pretty-urls-as-need-them/"
SEO4SMF = "http://dev.eldacar.com/smf/pretty-urls-discussion/generating-pretty-urls-as-need-them-t123313.0.html"

Dannii

If you do switch, I did make a redirection package too, so that the old links will still work. Though I probably need to update it now.
"Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise."

Mr. Jinx

That was one of the things keeping me from moving to prettyurl. All spidered urls and direct links won't work anymore.
A redirection pack would be cool.

Mr. Jinx

Wow, thanks Dannii, I will convert to prettyurls very soon!
