Is it possible to design the forum this way and how? Thanks.

www.name1.forum.com
www.name2.forum.com
www.name3.forum.com

i.e. a main forum having sub forums where each of the subs have their own prefixes (name1, name2, name3) and privacy of each sub forums. An individual should be able to create his own sub forums.

Welcome to SMF, forumhelp99.

Indeed. that is possible, create databases for each installation or use different prefixes for other forums, then you can set them up! The number of SMF forums you can own are not limited.

That would be tedious. This should be doable by the users themsleves as an inbuilt functionality. Can it be?

You mean distributing SMF? You should see our License, you need written permission to do so.
I believe you want to do something like SMF for free.

I can't provide you with source code for such things as my skillset doesn't fit there.

Unless, you have Fantastico Deluxe, you can give your users permission to cpanel to create their own sub-domains and install SMF.

yes something like smf for free. How can I create one with our domain name?

SleePy

SMF for free is a coded script that does all the work like this.
You may want to look into by searching the internet to see how php can do things such as creating a sub domain.

Though creating a folder is much easier ;)
