RPG Game add-on feature?

One of the staff members on my site gave me this idea to put on my site's forum: To put an RPG game on to the forum.  It's just a small mini RPG game that has the same features as a regular RPG game.  Only difference is the files size is a lot smaller to fit into the forum.

Invision has it so I don't know if SMF can do it.

Well, seeing as this would only apply to certain site genres, shouldn't this be in "Mod Requests?"

As for the SMF Rivals mod, not really what I am looking for but I could find use for it.

SMF Rivals is not what he wanted.  He wanted a built in RPG.... not some gaming clan thing.

Divinity RPG which you pointed out is.... insane.  That would be a massive undertaking for somebody.  The closest thing we have is the SMF Shop.

I haven't been around these forums for very long.... what's the interest level for something like this?

It really depends on the type.

RPGs on forums range from the clickable RPGs without much interaction, to writing RPGs that make use of stats and items, to fully-based writing RPGs that don't care about stats or items at all.

Something that was pointed out here would fall in the first category, I think, though it might be between that and the second.

I do foresee problems with an RPG mod.... every forum running this would have essentially the same RPG.  For every little cross-forum tweak enabled to the admins, hours more effort would be required.

But most of all, should I go to so much effort on a game, why not just make it into my own website?



Regardless, I think I could have fun working on something like this.  If somebody wishes to undertake an RPG mod for Simple Machines, drop me a line and I might be able to help as a minor developer.

It really depends on how the mod was created. The RPGs might have the same style and such, but I'm sure not everybody would have the exact same kind of experience.

And mods can be used in different ways.
