Rumbaar, thank you I PM'd you this afternoon. :) Haven't had much of a chance to reply here as I look after my grandkids a couple of days a week and they are only toddlers so concertrating is difficult with them :)

Okay I've logged in with your details.  I've adjusted the forums overall time offset to 16 hours.  Which should now be the time for AEST local time (GMT+10, non DST time).  All your users based in Australia and this timezone should now in their ProfileCP->Look and Layout Preferences=>Time Offset: = 0 (zero).

Let me know how that goes.

Wow thank you, I will sure and let you know. I'm off to do a test post.

Rumbaar

You're welcome.  I tried with both accounts and both seem to display the correct time now.  I did do a test post in the Admin section as well (Calendar thread) and found the general account has the correct time for the last active post that was visible to that account.

Sadly, the date is still out.

When I posted via the Calendar on 4th November, and then go to the test post it displays in the event itself as Test AAAA: Wednesday November 05 2008

My Time Offset is set at 0 (zero)

Yes the time date displays correctly, it is the calendar is still out, which I have continually been having trouble with :(

I might post some test events as well, if that is possible?  I'll be sure to clean up after I have.

Also try this thread and see if a solution is viable for you:
Forum time off - server time right - no offset

EDIT:  On further investigation it appears it's a bug with the forum time offset of greater than 12, as it takes the offset and adds to the date and time.  With your offset of +16 it moves it to the next day in the post.
Calender link wrong date

It appears to be fixed in 2.x, but I'm not sure of the changes required or fix for 1.1.x.  This only solution I can think of is to set the forum timezone offset to +11 and then all personal offsets to +5.  This might solve it or just get a server that has a host local time of Australia.

Thanks heaps, I will try that, if that doesn't resolve it and from what I have read 2.x is not ready to be a full 'live' (the best way I can explain myself, sorry) just yet.

Therefore if that is so, a server with local host time, would be as simple as asking them. I am not really interested in using a Australian server , from what I have read they are much more expensive than the American servers, would that be correct :)

Thank you very, very much for your help.

Rumbaar

Well I'm trying to get some more feedback on the current issue and state of 1.1.x fix, if any.

I'm using an 'Australian' based company and server for my hosting and don't have issues with there prices.  Now I certainly wouldn't use Telstra for my hosting, but there are some decently priced services.  The Hosts, Hosting and Commercial Services section might be a good place to start.

Thank you again Rumbaar, it would be great if you receive feedback.

I will also check out that section you mentioned, I'm terrified about starting over again, but from what I have read I also made a not so clever decision regarding the server I choose :) I guess it would be better to move now before I have many more members :)

Rumbaar

Well moving to a new host doesn't mean you have to start over and the process, as a whole, should be quite easy and painless.  You should read the Online Manual, it should give you some instructions/tips on how to achieve this, if you ever decide too.

How do I move my SMF board to a different host?

Thanks again Rumbaar, I spent some time earlier this morning having a look at 'The Hosts, Hosting and Commercial Services section'. Have composed some questions and will investigate further with a couple of more popular companies.

Thanks again :)

Rumbaar

As this seems to be a 'known' bug with the time offset, and little I can do as a Support I'll mark this current thread as 'solved'.  But if I get any additional news I'll re-open it and post a follow-up.

Best of luck.
