Reply Only function

What exactly is the purpose of the board option to be Reply Only?

I have tested a board with this turned on.  I see no difference to a board that is just normal...

To me, reply only should indicate NON viewable posts and or replies.

Here is what I want to do...  Maybe someone can help me, if it's even possible.

I have a board where I want people to make posts that other members and guests can not see.  Only admins can read them.. 

I thought maybe they could open a board, read the sticky there telling them to post their message, and telling them that no one else would be able to see it. 

I thought reply only would make it so they could read the initial posting (the sticky) and reply to it..but not be able to see any of the replies. 

Just curious if anything like this is possible..  thanks!

Reply only is exactly as it says. You can only reply to the topics listed there. You can not create a new topic unless you are administrator

What you might be interested in is the View Any Topic Permission mod. I think it will do what you need there. You can try asking the author or posting in the topic there to see if a new version can be released for SMF 2.0.
