How to display SMF on a HTML layout

Most likely you guys get this alot, but how do I go about displaying only the forum main elements in a html or php layout. I am looking for a way to have my forum display nicely in a website, without having to go outside the main layout, i am really not into portals, i was looking into an iframe, but i don't think that would be the best way. Any Ideas? thank-you
