Could anyone share suggesstions on the best way to backup my Mambo-SMF site? Ideally, I'd like it to be automated.

I've just started looking into the BigApe backup component for Mambo hxxp:www.bigape.co.uk/ [nonactive].  Could it be used to backup SMF too?

Thanks!

It certainly looks as if that BigApe component would work

IF!
1) You have your forum directory installed as a subdirectory of your mambo site.
2) You have SMF and mambo in the same database

So you use MySQL Administrator to back up the database, what do you do to back up your files?

Kindred:
Both SMF and Mambo share the same database, but I have the SMF folder on the site root along with all my Mambo folders.  I may try BigApe anyway to see what happens.

Anyone else have backup suggesstions?

Thanks all!

Once a month I backup all the files, dump through ftp.

Once a week all site folders/files backed up via ftp download. Database backed up after EVERY major change (Mambo and SMF share a database). I save the current backup and one legacy, deleting the oldest archives. That's probably too much backing up, but I've had s-o-o many problems getting all this working right and just don't take chances any more... :P
Cheers!
