I followed the instructions to the "T" and I have searched here for quite some time, to no avail. Here is my issue: I have a clean install of Joomla installed - smooth install. I have a clean SMF install. I have installed the SMF-Mambo/Joomla bridge and it threw my tables off. Any suggestions?

You're talking abotu the layout, and not the database, right?

Tables, meaning the layout and not db tables. It threw my tables/cells to the bottom. I am using IE6 to view. Here is a screen shot. http://thefishingstation.com/screenie/layout.gif [nofollow]

Your template is based on the SolarFlare template.  That template will do that in IE6 with anything in the main pane that is wider than 300 pixels, including tables and images.  IMO, it is very poorly written.

My advice is to use a better template.

That is the default template (rhuk_solarflare_ii) that is packaged with Joomla. Did I miss something in the Joomla Bridge 1.1.6 setup instructions that states the bridge is not compatible with Joomla while in it's default state?

What template do you suggest? I would like to keep the same type layout. Thanks.

It has nothing to do with compatibility.  It has to do with the fact that it is a horribly-written template.  As I said, even if you just had an image larger than 300 pixels wide in the content, that template would do that exact same thing, bridge or no bridge.

I usually suggest templates from here:

But there are a number of good sites creating templates,  some free, some paid:
