I've read through tons of posts on this but none seem to be able to hep with exactly what we want to do.

We have 2 websites at different domains but both hosted on the same server. We want to use the same forum for both sites, have it use a different theme depending on which domain you use.  I was able to have the forum work on both domains by installing 2 copys of SMF linking to the same database like an older thread suggested. But the problem is if I change the theme, it changes on both sites. We need each domain to use its own theme.

Is there any easy way to do this? It seems like it should be easy, but I'm not getting anywhere even after searching all over.

Thanks.

you mean you are sharing one database between 2 and you want to use two different themes for both of them ?

If you share single database between multiple forums then all your forums will work identically.

I think its not possible to use different themes on multiple forums which are using the same database.

You'll need to split key tables that store setting information for each forum, but you'll have a hard time getting it to work if members are across both forums.  As there is only a common theme setting for a person which can't separate between each forum.

But I think it might be able to do done if you only have a default theme for the whole forum and users can't select their own.  It's not a simple task and I've yet to have seen it done 100% successful.
Share user database for 2 (or more) different forums.
