Any errors in your error log? (Admin area > Error log)

Do any other e-mails get sent out correctly.

So no emails are working? Was the email function working at all originally in your forum?

Go to Admin > News and Newsletters and try sending out a test newsletter to yourself to see if it works. If it doesn't work, go to Admin > Server Settings > Feature Configuration and make sure it's set to PHP default. If you know your SMTP details, you can also try that to see if it works.

Hmm!!!!

So you are running the site from your PC with apache?

And if thats is so..have you modified the PHP settings so they support ur e-mail?

NOTE: it doesnt work on me too but i have a free web hosting provider so i dont have a e-mail account hosted..

Please clarify... are you using a hosted dedicated server, or a computer from home running this?  SMF does not send its own emails, it relies on the email sending capability of the server.

I suspect that email on the server is not properly set up.  The server would have logs of emails sent or attempted to be sent at the very least.  these would be the absolute first place to check and see if email is working on the server.

Please keep in mind that we cannot support server set-up and the like

Hi Metallica48423

I had hosted my site in a dedicated server.

Before updating  to 1.6 my newsletter & activation mail is working fine.. But after updating 1.6 only both are not working...

Also i think Creators of SMF 1.1.6 have to fix this issue,  It is raising only in 1.1.6 not in any other version... Iam even had smf 1.1.3 version in one of my website.. from that newsletter & activation option is working fine..

I just asking some help to rectify this.. I am not going to use smf as a bulk mailer or something.. Pls understand our situation.. If we are in out station we are not able activate the members.

i don't have this problem in a 1.1.6 forum that i'm running.

Have you checked the mail logs on your server to check the status of email sending?
What are your mail settings? php mail or SMTP?

Are you using SMTP?  If so can you go through and add all the details again, making sure that all details are 100% correct.  Then test if it working.

If you are using phpmail, and your alternate forum using 1.1.3 on the same server is the web master e-mail the same on both?
