Hi Guys,

Now i can see this question has and may be answered before seeing similar topic posts, but wasn't sure what todo as there seems to be so many different answers and not sure if i have done a basic thing wrong!

Ok i've installed SMF 1.7 on my hosting, i picked install in Japanese Language !

Now the forum URL is http://www.easternautos.biz/japan/ [nofollow]

When i type UTF8 code from google translation (copy and paste it comes up)

? ? ? etc etc

Any help on this, would be fantastic !

slowly trawling through the search guys.... seems as though i gotta go in PHPMYADMIN and change everything to UTF8... hope this works

You can use Forum Maintenance > Convert to UTF-8. Make sure to make a DB backup.

what a nightmare just to post japanese UTF8

these are the only options i have in Forum Maintenance

Optimize all tables to improve performance.
Check all files against current versions.
Find and repair any errors.
Recount all forum totals and statistics.
Empty out unimportant logs.
Convert HTML-entities to UTF-8 characters

i did this one Convert HTML-entities to UTF-8 characters ... but of course that does what it says (althought i havent tested that) but did run it
