First, purchase and download the FlashChat from TuFats at http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm
Follow all installation procedures listed, and test to make sure it is operating correctly.

Next, you will need a good text editor such as TextPad found at www.textpad.com if you are using Windows.

Last, open this document found at http://www.tufat.com/resources/resource_868.zip

It was created by a moderator from tufats, and DOES work with all 1.1x templates. It is easy to read and follow, even for any inexperienced applicator. Follow the instructions precisely, and you will be on your way to enjoying the benefits of using the integrated interface with your forum.

Good Luck!

ummm....   what was the purpose of this?   It's been discussed a number of times in a number of threads...

The interface integration instructions found at http://www.tufat.com/docs/flashchat/smf.html only provides instructions for the 1.0x SMF series, and is the same instructions provided with each download of FlashChat. The above informational link ( in first post) was found at TuFats support community and provides the correct information for the 1.1x integration.

There have been multiple posts made in reference to this issue, and no resolution was known. I provided this topic to help, especially since the 1.1.8 does not work with the current mod package available - and the current mod only uses an older version of FlashChat.

I was also struggling in integrating the interface, and searched for days to find the information needed to code it. With little or no information available for the 1.1x, I felt it was helpful to post the information I had found. I followed each easy step, and was capable of integrating the interface with no prior experience.

I hope this clears up the intent of the topic, and provides a better understanding as to why it was posted.

except that resolution WAS known and has been posted in several threads. It just seemed odd to start a new thread to discuss something that exists elsewhere as both specific and general topic.

I can appreciate your words, and understand how that might feel.

In all honesty here, I had searched for days to find the correct answer to the question. I posted on it, as did at least one other member, and we were told that the old link was to the 1.0x template, and that we were using 1.1x template (meaning it would not work). We were told that a new mod package may be in the works, but that it was unclear if would work for the 1.1.8, or just for 2.0x.

I did multiple searches, using the search feature as well as manually sifting through threads, and was unable to find what I needed. I am not saying that it is not there by any means, but after finding the resolution to the question, I thought it would be nice to have it in a place where others who may need the information could find it quickly.

Since the issue was only for integrating the interfaces between FlashChat ans SMF 1.1x, and not for the installation in general to multiple types of SMF versions, I thought it would be something I could post and would be appreciated.

My apologies, and take gentle care.

merging with the other flashchat thread

on second look, the other threads that this would match to are a year or two old.  No wonder you couldn't find anything on it....   My apologizes for the complaint. :)
