Does any of these work with 2.0 RC1 ??

Drupal, Wordpress, phpFoX, vBulletin, Joomla?

I mainly only really need the actual database bridging to use the same user accounts between them both.

And by the way, is there some way to create a sort of "separate" registration page that looks neither like SMF nor any of these other applications? Kinda like a centralized registration and login central.

vBulletin never has and never will work with SMF :/

I don't think any of the others work with 2.0 RC1, but you'll need to talk to the authors of the individual integrations for more info.

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=294254.0 ;) Tested myself with Drupal & Joomla, but it should also work with other CMS. You can use an external database for authentication / Login.

Hmm, thanks guys.

I wonder about that auth mod... i don't fully understand how it works though.

" - the synchronization (user migration) is one way (during SMF logon): from master to SMF.
An existing SMF user is not synchronized to the external database."

Uh, what does that mean? English isn't my native language. Does it mean that new users signing up on the forum doesn't show up in the other applications? Hmm, i think it's actually the other way around i want. For users signing up and logging in at the forum to be able to go to another site and still be logged in there, not the other way around.

What if i made them share the same database? Uh, can they use the same userbase then? Darn.. this is tricky stuff.

yes, exactly. the Plugin was developed for users who have a community based website and plan to use SMF as their forums system.

An example: you have a website based on Drupal (I call it Master from now on) and plan to use a new forum (SMF). Your users register on the Master and you are happy with this solution. The Plugin allows your users to authenticate on your "new" SMF without re-registering an account in SMF. During the logon process the user will be migrated from the Master to SMF.

Then the Plugin isn't a solution for you. Your website ist based on SMF and you are searching for a portal / CMS solution? There are lots of great solutions available: SimplePortal, ezPortal, PortaMX..

btw, my native language also isn't English  :P

Hehe, thank you TE!

Aha, i see. Hmm... but are those apps available for SMF 2.0 ?? Maybe i shouldn't have chosen version 2 of SMF... i really need a complete bridge system between the forum and one of those apps i mentioned in the first post.
