Can't Upgrade

I just installed SMF 1.1.6 on my web host, since it was the only version they allowed me to install and it doesn't have upgrade option. So I tried to upgrade through the web admin page, it won't work. Says file either corrupt etc...i have tried the 1.1.6 to 1.1.8 the full 1.1.8 nada nothing. I have deleted everything started from scratch, nothing. Ok, so what do I have to do? Delete everything again and use a ftp server and manually upload every single file from the full patch? Sorry, but first time trying this out and well, right now I am thinking this system not so great.

Ok, i just used my ftp prog and over wrote everything with that full 1.1.8 package and removed the upgrade.php file. Seems to be working fine and updated now. So if anyone else have same problem that is what i did. Hope that helps someone else.
