Hello everyone, if I have this in the wrong section please move it, I am in Arkansas and we have had a little SMF board set up to discuss racing here in the midsouth.

Last night out board went to a totally white screen and I have no idea how to get it back on line.  I can't see anything.

This morning we started getting this message, any help would be apprecated.

Notice: Undefined variable: sourcedir in /hsphere/local/home/arhunter/midsouthracers.com/forum/index.php on line 54 Warning: main(/QueryString.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/arhunter/midsouthracers.com/forum/index.php on line 54 Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/QueryString.php' (include_path='.:/hsphere/shared/apache/libexec/php4ext/php/') in /hsphere/local/home/arhunter/midsouthracers.com/forum/index.php on line 54

Ok, we did the repair deal, but it didn't work to get our board back up.

Any help would be appreciated.

1. Check the file Settings.php
Is it empty/blankfile?

IF YES -> Copy everything from Settings_bak.php into Settings.php
IF NO (or if the above didn't work)
Download the tool called "repair_settings.php" from smf website under downloads > tools section,

Upload to your host where smf is
Point to it in the browser.
Use it to correct any urls/info

Dodgmean

We have tried the repair tool and it didn't fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions and I passed it along to my web guy.

Is there any other suggestions?

karlbenson

Well the error is saying that $sourcedir isn't set
and thats set in Settings.php

so when smf tries to use $sourcedir, its telling you its not set, and then can't find necessary files.

Dodgmean

R.E. thanks for all the help, I sent what you suggested to my web guy and he fixed it.

Thanks you were a big help.

Thanks again, yall have a great day.

regularexpression,

This just happened to our board about 20 mins ago for some unknown reason. I am actually at home and just wanted to check out how our business forum is going, and it had a similar error to Dodgmean's.

Following you instructions, I was rather shocked to find my Settings.php file was empty.

Question: Did someone try hacking me? I have not been in FTP at all for quite some time so it wasn't me moving any files around, this just seemed to happen out of no where. What could cause a file to become empty like this? In all my years of working with SMF (dating back to YaBB Gold), I have never had this issue before so it's a little be scary.

Thanks
Mike
