Can't Access My Packages [Solved]

After looking over this again... Most of those are most likely in the menu code (not for sure though).. Nothing from that list jumps out as the possible direct cause of the problem. There is only one source file listed and its also from TP.

Will need to think on this one.... Will see if I can get some others to look over this as well..
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

yeah, the TP one just started coming up. It wasn't showing before so I'm not sure. and you're right about the flash. A few months ago my site went down while Hostgator was switching over and the Flash chat ended up getting screwy. My members aren't even using it anymore.

Tyrsson

Ok, had my Mentor look over this one as well.

Lets back up just a little.

What is the relevance of this?

/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx3/files/selfile.html?dir=/home/XXXX/public_html/Packages&file=error_log

Is this part of the bridge?

no I don't think so. I don't remember doing anything to any of the Packages files when I did the bridge. It only affects the membership and registration I think.

and I'm not sure. That's what I get whenever I click on Packages.

Ok, this will take me a little while but can you attach copies of these:

Sources/PackagesGet.php
Sources/Packages.php
Themes/default/Packages.template.php

I need to look through those and make sure they are as they should be.

Also, please check the .htaccess file in the packages directory and make sure it has your url in the allow statement :)

It will look something like this (or should)

Where this says localhost it should have your url
<Files *>
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from localhost
</Files>

ok here are the files

and the htaccess files are fine

Tyrsson

OK, I have loaded those files into my local 1.1.8 forum and into my IDE and have no errors and the forum functions fine as best as I can tell. I looked over the files (please note I am not a php pro)., but nothing that I can tell is apparently out of place... So this leaves us at a point where I am thinking its either a mod problem or a host problem.

Also, since the bridge only effects the database then you should be able to do a file refresh (of course that would kill all your mods not just the one that's causing the problem).....

Will keep looking.......

blumystique

thanks Tyrsson I'm going to try that. So how do i do the file refresh?

Tyrsson

OK,

First please review all the info about your bridge and make sure none of it relies to much on file edits (most dont).

Next,

1.  Download a copy of your settings.php and settings_bak.php and save them to a safe place becuase you are going to need them.

2. Download a full install package for the 1.1.8 and unzip it

3. Remove the settings.php, settings_bak.php, install.php, and the install MySQL files.

4. COPY your settings.php and settings_bak.php into the archive (this will allow you to connect with the db).

5. DOUBLE and triple check that you have copies of your current settings and settings_bak files on your computer and backed up and that they have been COPIED to the archive.

6. Remove the SMF folders and files that are now on the server. (This will remove all the bad script) Please be sure to maintain the same directory structure that you now have. SO lets say that smf is in a folder called forum.. We dont want to delete the folder "forum", just whats in it.

7. Upload the new directory that you have on your computer, which is the one with your copies of settings.php and settings_bak.php to the server.

8. Make sure all the file permissions are right.

9. Login and make sure the forum is running smooth ;)

Here is a list for the permissions:

The following files should be CHMOD'ed to 777*:

    * attachments
    * avatars
    * Packages
    * Packages/installed.list
    * Smileys
    * Themes
    * Themes/default/languages/Install.english.php
    * agreement.txt
    * Settings.php
    * Settings_bak.php

* If your host does not allow 777 permissions please try 755

Please, if you have any questions about this please post them before you start :)

ok thanks Tyrsson. I'm going to try it now. Well be back with updates :D

Marcus Forsberg

blumystique, is this issue resolved or do you still require assistance?

blumystique

It hasn't been resolved yet. I've been trying Tyrson's suggestion but since my site is bridged it doesn't seem to be allowing me to do it without completely ruining the bridge.

Tyrsson

I think there has been a solution found to this topic and will post the results of how it was resolved as soon as the site owner has a chance to fix the problem. They have gained access to the package manager.

Yes my problem was solved, all thanks to Tyrsson
