Hi guys, just wondering what is meant to happen when you announce a topic? I have done a few and logged in as a regular member and nothing happens.

Is it meant to do something?

I thought the announce topic function was supposed to send an email to registered members that have it turned on in Profile / Notifications.

Indeed the announce function will send an e-mail to everyone who has enabled forum announcements in their profile.

If nothing is happening, are e-mails working correctly on your site? Are people receiving activation e-mails and notification e-mails?
Any errors in your error log? (Admin area > Error log)
