Template Parse Error

There seems to be a problem with my forums, specifically with the default theme. I can no longer log on (Template Parse error) and I don't have ftp access to the server to fix anything from that. Is there any way we can get another template working?

Antechinus

Maybe. It depends on which file has the error. If it is a file that all your other themes call from default then they will all give the same error. If it is a file that some of your other themes have their own copy of then they should be ok.

Best way is to try them all. http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?theme=1 is the default theme, so try theme=2 and 3, etc and see how you go.

lightningdelta

Unfortuanately, it does seem to be a file which all templates draw upon.
So how can I go from here :/

Antechinus

You need ftp or cpanel access. No other way.

You can modify the files through the Admin CP :).
Which file has the parse error?

How can they log in? The forum is not accessible due to the parse error. Also it looks as if the offending file is a default theme file and default theme files cannot be edited in SMF admin.

lightningdelta

This has been fixed.
Another admin who had "Keep me logged in forever" just got on and was given the option to "Refresh the page or try the default theme" managed to reset the theme for everyone from there.
Problem solved. =D

It depends on the file generating the parse error. Most times, since the Administrator selects "Forever" when logging in, I use a direct link to the Administration Center (?action=admin) and edit the files using the built in editor. This works most times :).

To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.
