Can post from selected boards be ommitted from the 'recent topics' area?

With SMF 2.0 RC 1.2 (or later) is there a way to specify that posts in a certain board will not show up on the "Recent Posts" list if it's enabled on a theme?

For example, if I had several boards:

General Discussions
Whats New
Improvements
Suggestions
Test

How can I set this up so that posts in the "Test" board is NOT displayed in the "Recent Topics" area? I still want the "Test" board visible to anyone that wants to view it.

Posts from all the other boards can show up in the 'Recent Topics' area.

Is this possible, or does it require a mod of some sort?

Topics and post are only showed to those that have access to the board in which the topic or post is made in.
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

Yes, thanks for this information. I do realise it.

But I would like to set 'recent topics' so it won't show posts from some boards, but will from others, even for people that can access those boards.

Does your reply mean that this is not possible?

Thanks for your quick reply.

Oh, it's possible - just it's a manual code change.

More details would be useful, I think. Should this, for example, also be removed from RSS as well?

The question of removing it from the RSS feed is a good one.

For me, it would not matter so much, but to be more useful for others, it may be nice to have it selectable.

One of the reason for my asking for this, is that I've recently added incoming RSS news feeds.  When a lot of news feeds come in (every few hours), all the 'Recent Topics' are filled with just the news feeds. I'd rather have the 'recent topics' represent what 'real live humans' are discussing, not what my RSS Bot has gathered from around the net.

Also, I do have a testing board to allow users to learn how to use the forum, perform posting tests, etc. There's no need to have that presented on the 'recent topics' as the subject of most posts tend to be 'test'.

Thanks for any ideas, it sounds like this needs to be a mod.

After using the 'ignore board' feature of a user profile, this does almost exactly the function I want (except to not show the new posts icon). But I'd rather not set each member's profile up to ignore certain boards (and that feature won't help guests).

When I saw the ignore board feature, I thought there may be a setting on each board to say "Don't show in 'Recent Posts', but I couldn't find it.  So that prompted my questions here.

Thanks.

Recent topics... as in SSI's recent topics? I don't know that there is one in SMF itself other than SSI, meaning I doubt I could actively target that in the mod.

Recent topics as in:

Admin -> Themes and Layout -> Theme Settings -> Number of recent posts to display on board index. (set to a non zero value, mine is currenlty 10).

Arantor

Ah, that's recent posts, not recent topics.

I was getting a little worried there for a moment.

I'll also move this to Mod Requests in case I don't get to do it for a couple of days (and then someone else can)
