Possible to make a date bbc for 2.0rc1? I'm not sure what is the best way to implement it, but something simple would be nice.

I basically would like a feature where you can enter a bbc code into a post and the date would change every day/24hrs to reflect the current date.

i.e. today 10/14/2009, tomorrow 10/15.. etc..

Possible, sure. Not sure what the point is though to have it updated every time the thread loads.

I have a a section of threads that are updated everyday to reflect current changes. It'd make things a lot easier if I didn't have to worry about changing the date every single day.

If it's a simple mod, I'd like you to show me how to do it if possible. However, if it's not though; I'm not worried since beggars can't be choosers. :) But, whether you can help me or not, please let me know so I know to continue to bump or just wait.

Do you want a button for it? Should it be driven by permissions?

(Btw, you should update to 2.0 RC1.2 for security reasons)

Yes, I do have 1.2; I get confused with 2.0 beta, 2.0rc, etc.. ;)

No, I don't need a button as it will only be admins/mods using it. Permissions, well; no not really since I won't need a button? Whichever is easiest and the best way to do so.

Arantor

Well, users will be able to see the tag, that's all, and would be able to use it themselves. Just because there isn't a button doesn't mean it can't be used.

Now, should this also include time or simply just the date?

Simply just the date will be fine.

That should be relatively easy to make as the forum already logs the date by default, possibly a simple echo from smf_messages could do the trick :)

Why use a database query to get this data? The idea is that it should update regardless and be 'today's date' if I understood it correctly.

If that's the case... add the attached and use [todaydate], nothing more.

Thanks a lot! I just added it and worked great. Will update tomorrow to see if it updates and will mark it solved. Thanks again.

Thanks! Well, I don't see the mark as solved button anymore; but mod works excellently. Thanks Arantor.

Arantor

Good to know it works as it should. I'm not going to submit this one to the mod site, but it can remain here just fine :)
