I suspect its affecting all Nokia touch phones and possibly other makes.  You can see the qwerty keyboard but nothing you type shows.

Again this is new to RC2 because it worked on RC1.2

Darkstar1337

It would be nice if one of the dev team could answer this because I can't reply while on the move now due to this problem

Darkstar1337

Someone could have at least tell me if its a known bug or a new one but the ignore the problem speaks volumes

Arantor

It's not a known bug as far as we know.

As you can imagine we have had a LOT of bug reports in the last week since RC2 debuted, and unfortunately we don't have enough people to be able to reply to everything - also please note that two of our developers are actually on hiatus at present so getting a reply from a developer would be nigh on impossible.

No-one else has reported it either.

Out of interest, if you switch to the Core theme, does it still present the same problem?

Darkstar1337

I don't have core, I deleted all the other themes, smilies etc which wont be used

Arantor

Hmm, so I can't track down if it's a bug in the rest of the RC2 code, or specifically a theme. I also don't believe any of our devs have  Nokia 5800.

Out of interest, can you reply to this forum using it?

Darkstar1337

I can't reply to diddly with on RC2 at the moment using the phone and I believe this will affect any mobile using the Symbian S60 5th edition OS which covers more mobiles than the iphone!

Arantor

So, not even this forum which uses an older version of RC2 ? Weird. Not even via WAP/WAP2/imode?

I was able to answer this thread using Nokia 5800 cellphone, no problems. And i had curve theme.

Arantor

So if you can answer this thread, but not RC2 Public, something broke between RC2 Charter and RC2 Public.

What, exactly does it prevent you doing? I note you said about the keyboard, but I'm sorry, I don't understand (I have never used a smartphone in my life; my current phone, Nokia 3330 has WAP but I have no idea how to use it  :-[)

When you type on the qwerty keyboard you can see what you type however since upgrading you don't see it so can't

Arantor

How do you tell it you want to type in a given box?

nwobhm

You just activate the message box with your finreg or with the nokia 5800 pen. For me it works like that.  After activating the message box nokia opens the qwerty window where you can type the message..... and send it.

I had no problems with my nokia and with this RC and curve.

No problems in here or on my own forum.

Darkstar1337

Funny thing is I tried it again last night and it worked but then I reloaded and it wouldn't work again.  It seems to be like the recent post problem where some topics/links don't show, it still happens here

Darkstar1337

Right I wont bother with this now as no one really cares however I will be back when others report it so I can show them what SMF thought

Joshua Dickerson

Since it appears that nobody else has reported this issue, I'm going to chalk it up to an issue with your phone. If someone else can confirm it, we will continue on with this.
