I'm using SMF 2.0 RC1.2. I've unzipped and uploaded this theme (Mystic Multi v2) throught FTP to the folder "Themes" on my site, but when i go to Admin > Themes and Layout > Manage and Install i can't see the new installed theme appear. The "Overall forum default" just shows 3 default themes of the board.

I tried uploading the .zip file directly from the web, but it failed (maybe my web hosting doesn't allow that - i met the same problem when using Wordpress too). But all i dont understand is why i can't see the new theme listed when i've already uploaded the folder?

You actually have to install the theme. Just uploading the files does not "install" it. Use the option to install from a file on the server and type the exact package (theme name) into the field and click install.
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

Link a phpinfo file and we may be able to tell you if its host related.

What is a phpinfo() file?

btw can you be more specific how to do that ? like, which file should i choose to install (or is it the .zip file?) and i can see no field that lets me type in...

thanks for ur so fast reply  :-X

There is an option to install a theme from a file/directory on the server. You type the folder name the theme is in.

So it would be:

MysticMulti... (there is most likely a version number on that also and it needs to be typed in the exact case etc.).

admincp>themes and layout>manage and install>scroll to the bottom (use option->From a directory on the server: )

Type in the folder name (look for it in ftp)

Click install.

Your problem is most likely being caused by the fact that your host is running php in safe mode.
