Hi,
I want to move several postings inside a thread as a moderator function.
Is there is a knowing modification or has anybody an idea how to realize it?

Thanks,
Andreas

Hondo

Sorry, but you don't understand me. I want to "move" and not "remove".
Isn't it a difference?

kat

OOPS! Misread your post. SORRYYYYY!

You need the "Split topic" button.  :)

Hondo

Hi,
no you don't understand me. When I split a topic I have a new topic.
I will move posts inside a thread.  e.g. post #1 after #2, post #4 before #1 and so on.
So the ID_MSG of the postings have to change or (imo better) I need an additional fields for the order.
Do you understand me now?

kat

Ah... change the order.

No, I don't think you can. :(

As far as I know there is no built in function for this. You could use an SQL query I suppose but that would be quite a task.

Posts are displayed in post date/time order so even if you split and merged they would still be in that order. You'd need to edit the messages table in your dB to change the posting date and time. Sorry but that's a bit beyond my skillset at the moment.

Have you tried looking for an Admin Mod to do this?

OK, thanks for your answers.
Do you know if in SMF2 is such a feature?

Chas Large

Sorry, no it does not.

I cannot see a mod to do this either. Might be an idea to suggest it.

Yes, this would be nice to have.
My idea is to have moderated topics where each topic is something like a catalog of products/addins with experience of the poster and so on. And so the moderator should be able to move the posts to have an order in categories, manufactor or any else.

I'll mark this one as solved, for now.  :)
