forum not working right

Hi everyone
My problem is my forum isn't working how I'd like it to. I recently upgraded to RC 2 from RC1.2 and some things that work fine on the RC1.2 forum and my test RC2 forum do not work on my upgraded forum.
for example the custom profile fields don't show up even though i selected show on topic view.
and the member colour link mod don't work right i checked the file that errored on install but the code don't exist.
I am thinking of doing a fresh install of RC2.
how can i do a fresh install but still keep the db intact so all posts and boards and such like are still the same.
I don't mind reinstalling mods so if i knew which files to extract and upload from the RC2 package this would help.
but the only problem is some mods won't uninstall. there is a few problems in the packages i believe.
any help much appreciated.

If you reinstall new copies of the files then you are not touching the database right?  Then the mods can be reinstalled.  The files are "unmodded" so you should be able to reinstall what you need over the top of that.  The database tables may or may not be there, but if they aren't there, then they will be added. You should not lose any info in doing this, but as always back everything up beforehand just in case.

On my test forum  I have replaced files, and reinstalled mods multiple times for years.  I still even have tables for mods we haven't used for a long time but I leave them in there for posterity :p  They aren't doing any harm and are unused.

Would you mind sharing what you have done to get this working?  I am having the same issue.  It appears all my settings are set properly.
It will display in profile view, but not show on topic view.

SMF 2.0 RC2

i unticked show on topic view saved it, ticked show on topic view and saved it again, then it showed this was after an upgrade from a earlier version

Thanks for the reply.  I tried that here, still isn't working though.

I did notice that using a checkbox was putting the little icon on everyone's profile.  Not just those who have the box selected.  So I changed it to a text input.  This way it only shows on profiles with some text in the field.

I still can't get it to show on topic view however.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

try clearing your forum cachec and check it again on rc2 it shows right at the bottom by default
can you give a link to a topic where you expect to see it ie on which members

I've cleared cache and it still will not show.  I forgot to mention that I have zero errors being generated in the error log.

Here is a link where it should be showing.  The user Marcus should have it showing.

not quite sure what is supposed to show i do see i little logo which takes to the coffin but thats it

Thanks for looking.  I just used a test user and was able to see it.  Tested in three browsers.  As an administrator you can't see the icon.  All other member groups are able to view it.

Think there is a bug there?

Figured it out.  You can't see your own badge, but it's there for all other users.  Certainly this will drive people nuts. lol
