How many files are in a typical smf installation?

I'm asking because I try to upload my forum files to a new host and there are over 5000 files.
And I don't use many themes (3) or packages (5).

I don't know that I have ever specifically counted... but there could be - given all the small images, etc...

Also, are you actually trying to run 2.1 beta?

You are correct. I'm not using 2.1 beta. I'm using 2.0

2.1 installer package from GH has 719 files. 2.0.x should bring some more because it features 2 themes instead of 1.

If you have attachments, then it's easy to go way beyond that number of files

The easy way to go from one server to another is by zipping all the content of your website through your old host control panel (cPanel or whatever they have) in the file manager, and download that file, then upload that file to your new host and unzip it threre with the file manager.
