My forum (hxxp:ericjeckert.com/forums/ [nonactive]) has been working perfectly for a year or so and then suddenly, users were unable to post replies or create new topics.

I was getting an error in reference to my Post.template.php file.  In these forums, I found someone with a similar issue.  I uploaded a new version of the Post.template file and it seemed to fix that problem.

Then when I attempted to post a reply or new topic, I get a page that doesn't fully load.

It gives the following error at the bottom:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function template_control_richedit() in /nfs/c01/h15/mnt/36805/domains/ericjeckert.com/html/forums/Sources/Load.php(1733) : eval()'d code on line 383

I'm running the most current version of SMF and have not changed any files in the entire SMF forum directory for at least a year.

not trying to bump, just an update.

i decided just to create a brand new SMF on my server and import the SQL database.  once the new forum was created, i was able to add new topics and replies just fine.

then i imported my SQL database of old posts, users, etc... and now once again i am getting the error.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

That eval message is not real, if you get what I mean.

If you install this mod http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2054 and clear your error-logs, you'll get the real error.

(Sorry to be a pain)

definitely not a pain, thanks for the help.

i've cleared my error logs, installed it and now when i try to create a new topic i get the following errors in my log immediately.

Odd... They're still giving the "eval" thing.

What mods do you have?

Any installed just prior to this stuff happening, eckert?

eckert

i havent installed anything on here.  its just the default smf install.

a friend of mine was wondering if someone couldve added something to a post that would be causing these errors and also then affecting the database.  also, since this problem just randomly occured.

kat

Well, the first thing I'd try, is going to Admin>Forum Maintenance and trying to repair errors, recount forum statistics, optimise the tables and that stuff.

If none of that helps, maybe you could go to your site's CPanel and repairing the database?

As you moved stuff, I wonder if this might help, too. http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18096.0

i ran all those and the only thing i've noticed at all is in the detailed version check, it says that my post.template.php file is version 2.0 RC2, but the current version is 1.1.5.  would this cause any issues?

also, i ran the repair settings file and that didnt seem to help.

kat

If you upgraded from v1.1.11, that might keep the original file.

I think it's odd, though, if it did do that.

I upgraded from v1.1.11 and mine's v 2RC3.

Do you have many mods installed?

If not, it might pay you to get that file from the v2 install package and and upload it to your site.

Just in case, just rename the current file, so that you can delete the new one and rename the old one back, if it causes any problems.

I don't see how it could, but it's better safe than sorry, ay? ;)
