Sorry, I tried searching for some answers with no luck.  I have a theme on my SMF 1.1.11 that I've worked quite hard on. (Making it match my index blog page). 

If I want to upgrade to SMF 2, am I just out of luck as far as that theme goes?

Second question, is there any documentation as to what features SMF 2 has over SMF 1.x?

SMF1.x Themes definitly doesn't work with SMF2.x

Hi.

If you find a theme you like, all you need do is install a portal (Simple Portal is what it says). But there are several to choose from.

You can use the portal page for your blog, it pulls its styling from whatever theme you use  :)

You absolute don't have to install a portal to be able using a theme you like.
