I'm having trouble restoring a SMF backup. I have spent a few hours searching treads and cannot find the answer I am looking for.

Problem: Can import the backup to the datafolder with the webhost's phpMyAdmin panel. From there I'm not sure what to do, how to apply the backup.

Background: This is a new install of the SMF 1.1.12 forums on a different webhost ( that the backup was created on).

-It is the same version SMF 1.1.12
- The new forum uses a prefix when creating a backup and compressed with gzip. The backup from the old forums does not have a prefix and is a sql file.
-backup from old forums included both the table structure and table data.

I followed the instructions from the FAQ and numerous treads here about importing the backup SQL file to the directory on the server using the phpMyAdmin.

I get a successful import of file with a green checkmark.  From there I'm not sure what to do to to make the forums reflect the old forum as no changes are made on the new site.

Thank you for any help

If I understand you correctly, you will want to use a tool like repair_settings.php and input the correct (and updated) mysql information for the new host on there.

What is repair_settings.php?
