A question about submitting a certain mod

If I were to submit a mod to the mod site that is for a certain 'thing' such as perhaps a highscores system for a particular game such as Runescape, would this be acceptable to submit?

Would database-specific compatibility be allowed for mods?

Thanks.

Arantor

Speaking as a former Cust. team member (bearing in mind I have no say about current implementation of the guidelines):

* Database specific compatibility is generally required unless there's a good reason not to. If it's 1.1.x only, that's fine because SMF only supports MySQL on 1.1.x. I'd also say that if you need it to bridge to a separate DB table that's not inside SMF, i.e. some external MySQL database, that's likely to be fine. Alternatively if you have to use some other API it's probably fine - *provided* you document what it needs to avoid problems later.

* It sounds like there's some questionable nature behind the mod you're talking about; mods provided here should not have any legal matters or similar. I know that Runescape are funny about private servers, and if there's anything that's legally questionable the answer is likely to be no.

I don't know, though, if in doubt shoot the SMF Cust Team a PM (they're in the users as SMF Customization Team, user 1)

Thanks or the quick reply. What I was going to submit was just a highscores modification which would display players from a database table and have them displayed on the page. The only thing im worried about is perhaps using their images such as,

Etc.

It would be advisable not to use images from such sources without clearing the rights to use them in that way. I know Jagex are very hot on reusing their images.
