Hello.

Our forum is running in SMF 2.0 RC4 and in the last two weeks it's been blocked by the net provider.

First we thought it was a server issue, but they flushed the firewall and the issue still there.

It mostly happened when we announce topics, some times it just stop and when we force it to continue it send some more but after the page get blank (off). On some net providers we can't acess at all the forum link and others we can but can´t announce again.

Now we are quiet sure that is the Net provider, because when we turn the router off and restart again it works well for a few more announcements.

Can it be because the forum name, like a firewall word sensitive to block the massive acess in the piracy "war"?

Or any hacker script?

This is the link:  http://www.downloads-4amigosxat.net/

Anyone had the same issue?

Any ideas or sugestions?

Thanks in advance.

When you announce things, I'm assuming that you're sending messages to all of your members.

That's quite a load on the server, you know, depending on how many members you have.

Maybe that's your problem?

Adding to what K@ has said, I'm guessing, maybe your provider limits how many emails can go out in an hour, or day.  If this is the case use your SMF email settings to throttle back your outgoing emails to be below the limit set by them.

You will have to ask your provider if they do this. I know on one of my forums I had to set this up.

Adding to K@ and imrich, a typical Level 1 hosting package allows for 100 e-mails per hour. Do check with your host as to the hourly limit then set the throttle accordingly.

If you have a large membership you can usually come to an arrangement with your host or consider installing a third party mailing software via cpanel.

Thanks to all replys. But it's not a host issue, like I said it's a net provider issue. When I turn the router off and restart again it works fine for some time.

Oops, back to the drawing board.  :)

Contacting your net provider would be a good idea. It's possible they are reading your traffic as a mass-spam attempt. Resetting your router clears everything out so it's possible for you to start over again. Also, from your link, I have heard tell of limitations from sites with even some adult content.

Thanks Yogi@

Contacting is always a good possible. However sharing experience is other one.
