I'm new at this so please bear with me and show me some love. :)

I first tried upgrading the 1.1.14 to 2.0 with no success.  I thought I followed the instructions.  I later gave up and am back to the 1.1.14.  I'm scared to even try it again, because at least NOW I have something that is functional.

So, today I've tried to do a fresh install of 2.0 on a different site.  I actually got it to install but the page wouldn't load.  I didn't get the error but it was one of "internal error".
Instead of uninstall I I think I screwed up by deleting the files???  How do I try to reinstall a fresh install if I've deleted the files?  (because reuploading isn't working now)  What's the step for "uninstalling" in the future?  Is this something connected with the database and not the FTP site?  Is there something I need to "delete" or adjust on the database??

Also when it says change the permissions to writeable.  I'm using GoDaddy and it has 2 options, owner and web user permissions - read, write and executable.  The files that I'm supposed to make writeable are set for "read" and "write" on the Owner and only read on the Web User.  Do I uncheck "read" and check "write" or just click "write"?  And on which one's do I change?

And one more important question, how are you all adding your profile pics?  Can I ask anymore questions!?!?  Probably can! ;)

So F***ing frustrated!

Upgrading should be easy in theory, just upload all the files in the large upgrade package on top of your old installs files, and then run the upgrade.php included in the uploaded files.

If you have access to your server error log, it might tell us exactly what caused the internal error, but I'm guessing it could be that your server has some limitations on what file permissions you are allowed to set for files and folders.

Uninstalling a complete SMF installation is 1) Delete all related files 2) Delete the associated DB or the smf_ tables in it if the database is shared for multiple purposes and not SMF alone.

How do you mean it's not working?

Writable should be readable and writable to owner and user.

Through our profiles, after we have a few posts more and the forum gives us the option to do so ;)
