Awesome mysql backup utility!!

I found a GREAT script that automates nightly database backups, weekly backup, and monthly backup. It will then automatically overwrite the nightly's so you only have 7 copies in it. Check it out at http://sourceforge.net/projects/automysqlbackup/

Fill out 3-4 lines and add save it into your nightly cron folder. I'm also running a one line script that backs up all the backup folders onto another server via ftp. If anyone is interested in that one I'll post what I've done.

Can't seem to get the file to download

The other script you're running, can it do an auto download to a PC?

Glad you like it It makes me feel ALOT safer.

The progam would only do an autodownload to a pc if you had an ftp server running on it.

Yeah it works really well, and took me all of 5 minutes to setup (if that).  Only thing I put it in my cron and it didn't.... but that's another issue as another cron job didn't run as well last night.

Did you put it in your nightly cron job folder? What OS are you using?

I put it directly in my crontab using crontab -e

interestingly it seems like it does run but does nothing ?  Must be some type of error but I don't have access to error logs. 

I had another cronjob in there working and it no longer works either.

You might want to try asking your host then. They might be restricting your access to run cron jobs.
