Hi. I have my board set up, which is the latest version. Everything is now working fine. However, attempting to attach a pdf to a forum post results in a 500 server error.

Pictures (jpg) are fine and upload perfectly, and I have added pdf to the attachment settings in the admin cp. Max attachment size is set at 1024K, and the pdf I tested this with is around half that. Any idea what I am doing wrong, or is fate telling me to avoid pdf's?

(Also, does SMF differentiate between PDF and pdf attachments?)

Thanks.

Does it happen with any pdf or with one in particular?
Other types of documents?
Do you have mods installed?

Take a peek at what I'm doing! ;D

Thanks. I will run a few tests and get a better picture of the issue.

If you were getting a 403 error, I would remind you to turn off mod_security. Since it's 500, you might look through my sig > FAQs > 500 (Internal Server) Errors for a list of things that might produce a 500 error. Some mod_security settings can cause a 500, as can a "world writable" PDF file (is it 666 or 777 permissions by any chance?).

Max attachment size of 1M isn't all that big. Are you sure your documents aren't exceeding that? How about other attachment files?

Just to update, but I think that I have solved this. I was also having a problem elsewhere, which turned out to be the FcgiMaxRequestLen set too low by default.
