I recently took a 6 week online course regarding Jane Roberts and Seth, the self-described "energy personality essence no longer focused in physical matter." There was a forum associated with the online course where the students could discuss the concepts. Once the course was finished, we were locked out of the forum. The students were from all over the world: the US and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Norway, South Africa. We bonded over the six weeks and I got the idea to start my own forum where we could keep in touch. So I made "Speaking of Seth."

I used the Sunset template and made some modifications: I added a logo and tag line, a new background for the header and some CSS changes to colors of text and backgrounds. I wanted to keep the backgrounds low contrast but still have enough color to more easily delineate boards, etc. I also redid most of the link graphics to look cleaner than the default ones which mixed colorful icons and text. I had a couple of problems during setup but the SMF forum folks were able to help me out.

I launched 3 days ago and was immediately hit with a storm of bot spams. That's been taken care of (I added a couple of questions to the registration process and an anti-spam module). I'm pretty thrilled with the ease of use and functionality of SMF. And was very happy with and grateful for the responsiveness of the support people.

We only have 4 members right now, because I only had the email addresses of 4 members from the class. But we're just getting started and discussions have been lively. Members will be from around the world, young and old and will be interested enough in Seth to seek out like minds.
