Hello guys.

I'm fairly new at administrating a forum.  I've been a global mod for quite some time but have never done in depth administrating. Our forum in the past had no error whenever someone did a forum-wide 'Search'.

The following error happens whenever one wants to "Search" the forums:
Quote
Table './cactusgd_smf1/smf_log_search_results' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
File: /home/cactusgd/public_html/message_boards/Sources/Search.php
Line: 1001

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 2.0.2, while your database is at version 2.0. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.
.

How do I go about resolving the issue without causing the whole forum to glitch and fail?

Thanks so much in advance for any help offered.

Peace!

I've never done any upgrade to the current version since I took ever the other admin, and I'm really a noob to the SMF platform.

What it reads below our forum homepage:
SMF 2.0.2 | SMF © 2011, Simple Machines
SimplePortal 2.3.4 © 2008-2011, SimplePortal
XHTML RSS WAP2

Your advise?

Thanks!

Without knowing more details try going into Admin > Maintenance and clean the error log, check for errors, etc. Then see if that helps.

Thank you much.  I will take your advice and will update you on results.

My Detailed Version Check shows:
SMF File          Your Version   Current Version
SMF Package   SMF 2.0.2           SMF 2.0.2
Sources           2.0.2           2.0.2
Default Templates   2.0           2.0.2
Language Files           1.0           2.0

Is there a step-by-step on how to update the Default Templates + Language Files without endangering the current set up?  And must I have a local directory for set up, ergo must the upgrade be done locally on the server unit hosting the forum?  Sorry for all the noob-ness.

Thanks so much.

From cpanel you have to go to phpMyAdmin, then select the database you have SMF installed in, then you'll see a list of tables.
Tick the checkbox on the let of the table "smf_log_search_results" got down and from the dropdown "with selected" choose "repair table".
