Hi,

I have 2 sites with SMF deployed, 1.1.16, and wanted to upgrade to 2.0.2

On the first one I ran webinstall and everthing went fine, it only took a few minutes, yet 24 hours later my account was suspended by the hosts for T&C and complainace issues.  It seems that Webinstall had given problems:

"You have a script that is causing problems. [05-Nov-2012 20:10:47] PHP Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home3/xxxxxxxx/public_html/webinstall.php on line 843 [05-Nov-2012 20:10:47] PHP Warning: feof(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home3/xxxxxxxx/public_html/webinstall.php on line 842
"
Where xxxxxxxx is my account id.

They reinstated me when I pointed out that Webinstall was a once only and was removed following the upgrade.
I'll upgrade the second site by FTP etc which is no doubt a much longer job.

This is just for info, and in case the developers of Webinstall have an issue they might want to fix.  Or maybe it's just my hosts.

I got back to my Hosts on this issue, so here is the resolution if anyone experiences the same problem:

"It should be fine to run the script.  You will want to make sure that after you have run the script (and subsequently removed it) that there isn't some process stalled that is trying to access the script. This is what appears to have been the problem originally. In the cPanel, or via SSH it is possible to see any currently running processes on your account, so that you should be able to see if the process has run out of control again, and stop it before it becomes a problem that requires our admins."

My account has cPanel, and the utility to kill processes is in the 'Advanced' Section, called, naturally enough, 'Process Manager'.

Thanks for sharing that, Prids. As you said, it might help others out, in the future. :)

It's my pleasure.  I get so much from this forum and SMF generally; so it's nice to be able to give a little back.

All Best
