You mean using always the WYSIWYG editor?  if so, you can change that in your admin settings, keep in mind that the editor is quite buggy.

The BBC code isn't as annoying as a true coding language, it was created to simplify the process of using truly annoying HTML codes.

Why is it that the tool that people input data into the forum is not as user friendly as just typing text in Word or any other document?

Where do I change this? Now I do not mean activate or deactivate. I want it to be activated but I want the default option to not show the BBC but the regular WYSIWYG because this is what my clientèle wants.

By the way is there a MOD that can change the WYSIWYg editor. I know that when I used Tiny Portal several years ago, we had two choices.

You can type plain text on the editor as well... there is no need to add fancy stuff to your text.  As for the reason it isn't as "friendly" as Word, is because word doesn't ahve to deal with text formats, DB collations, HTML sanitization, encodings and all that stuff.

Admin / Configuration / Themes and layout / Member Options /  Select your current theme / Change current options for all members using this theme / Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default.

Because you're not writing something into 'Word's own unique format', you're writing something that ultimately has to become HTML.

And has to remain secure. It is all too easy to introduce nasty things into HTML.

I would note that there are multiple attempts to make editors more like Word - and all of them have their own fantastic bugs, which all multiply with the number of browsers.

Yes, you can change the editor but ultimately you exchange one set of bugs for another.

Actually, it's really not that important most of the time. You might feel it is important but generally, the reality is not the same as your expectation.

1- you can default the wysiwyg editor to ON... (although I can not imagine anyone wanting to do so)

2- special fonts and fancy text are most definitely NOT required, especially not on the web. CONTENT is what matters bling and flash are just a waste, distrcting from the content.  Although it needs to look NICE, it does not need to have fancy crap.
That's a mistake that most people make in Word and Powerpoint as well.  The purpose of a document (or a website) is to communicate information.
use of bold, and other minor formatting is useful, but you don't need a wysiwyg for that....
