A user pointed out that there was a problem with "whitescreen" on all pages except registering, then everything was fine.  BUT in my researchN I found there was a problem and I narrowed the problem down to Firefox (I am using Chrome) so I figured it was a saved password problem so I deleted my saved passwords for firefox (and also in chrome) and now I AM GETTING the whitscreen on everything.  Damn!  I did some searching on SMF and found a reference to "cookies".  I could have change my cookie name, it seems, but I can't get into my forum because of the blasted whitescreen.

Then to make matters worse, my computer crashed so I'm using my smartphone to type this message.  Though, the puter just fixed itself, so maybe it's going to be an OK day after all.

Please help with whitescreen issue.  I'm just grasping at straws concerning cookies.  If someone has a better solution, please share.

** Computer's back!!! And I can access Forum using Chrome, but Firefox is still a whitescreen.  I am NOT attempting to logout in Chrome until Firefox is back.**

How about a URL, so that we can see what's happening?

Is it this one?

http://www.misfitcityforum.com/forum/index.php?

If so, I'm getting nothing, at all. :(

Shambles

I think it's the MisFiT link in his sig.

What did you change recently? I'm also getting a white screen...

So, ultimately, something that shows to guests but not to actual members is broken.

It might be worth checking the admin error log.

K@,

Sorry about that!!

URL:  http://www.misfitcityforum.com/forum/index.php
Version: 1.1.18

Shambles,

I haven't changed anything since the update to 1.1.18
And, a white screen?  Really?  That's what I'm getting too!  Huh!!  Just funning'!!  8)

Arantor,

Well, I can't be so sure.  Maybe.  Is it a Firefox issue?  Guest issue?  I don't know, but I'd like to find out.

Checking admin error log now...

TaDa!!!  Unfortunately this error have been an on going problem.

I tried to uninstall the regbar-warning modification a while back, but I had to manually do it, so I have been postponing it.  Until now.

I will do that I let you know if the issue is resolved.

I can be sure about it.

If it works while you are logged in but not when you are logged out, it follows that it is not down to the browser (especially given comments from others here) but something shown to guests that is not shown to regular members.

QuoteChecking admin error log now...

It's always a great place to go to see what's going on.

Quoteregbar-warning modification

That seemed like a likely candidate - it's something that doesn't show to regular users, only to guests.

Let us know if removing it works (it should) :)

Try editing this lot from Load.php to remove the call.

//-- SMFHacks.com; Regbar Warning
if ($user_info['is_guest'] && !in_array($context['current_action'], array('coppa', 'login', 'login2', 'register', 'register2', 'reminder', 'activate', 'smstats', 'mailq', 'verificationcode', 'openidreturn', '.xml', 'printpage')))
{
require_once($sourcedir . '/smfhacks_source/regbar-warning.php');
RegbarWarning();
}
// End SMFHacks.com; Regbar Warning --//

Or any bits of that that are there.

I have been doing this stuff long enough that you'd think I WOULD HAVE checked the error log, but NO, not this time.  Egg on face syndrome.  :-[

Well, I deleted the code in the load.php file and the forum is back on Firefox.  I still have to delete folders pertaining to the mod, though.

I think all is well.

THANK YOU to all!!!!
