Mod Error

Ive wanted to install a few mods. I download the mod i want to desktop, Extract files into a folder I name, then use smart ftp to transfer to the Packages directory on server.

Once i do that, i go to the adminCP of the forum and click on package manager. Once i click that, the page turns white and nothing loads.
No matter which mod i go for they all do this, once i delete the folder of the mod i added page loads.

you upload just the zip/tar.gz package into the package manager... smf knows what to do with it

I did that too, Just downloaded to desktop then transferred the .zip file. Once i go to packages I still get a white page.

I do have 000webhost free hosting as of right now. They havent shown me enough to pay for the services. I dont know if they have this blocked or something was messed up.

thats the problem, they are known bad host as free and unlimted services do *Not* exists...
you should move to a good host look into the hosting boards here for free or paid ones....

So unless i upgrade to a paid account on their server, This will not work then.

I been with them since 2009 with no issues till installing SMF. Im new to SMF layout and how mods are done.

In the video, is that a known error to happen using 000webhost.

000webhost has its limitations and have a feeling that you can try to make a /temp directory in your /packages dir... so it wil look like this /packages/temp chmod to 755

and try again

I made a folder in the packages folder names temp. When i look in the file permissions from package manager, is shows everything is chmod 0755.

But im lil fuzzy on what im supposed to do once i create the temp folder. When i upload the mod to the packages file still gets blank page. Upload it to the temp folder, page loads but does not pick up the mod.

nope the package manager make use of the temp folder... to extract the zip file... and do some other stuff...
if you just upload the package from the package manager --> download -- > upload --> browse to your zip file --> proceed (don;t know the whole procedure) out of my head but its something like that

Way you suggested was the way i first tried before using the FTP program. But end result is the same. Uploads to packages folder then page goes blank under package manager

Im pretty sure 000webhost is the reson. I looked in php info and shows memory_limit 64M
