Registration Verification Problems

Heya,

So I migrated my forum recently from MySQL4 to MySQL5 as required by my host. It was a problematic process, but it eventually moved and is still running.

My latest issue is that the registration for the forum is broken it seems. I was running a few mods/packages, like Join Reason, Are You A Human and reCaptcha. I didn't change anything, but these packages are not showing up as installed, but are running. And I can't seem to get rid of them. I would like to remove these from my registration verification completely, but I can't seem to find a way to remove them since they're not even listed as installed.

Is there a default thing I can fall back on? Any way to completely reset this verification process?

sounds like the smf_log_packages did not get converted correctly...

set the installed column to "1" for the mods which are actually installed...

Heya,

I do that on the database, correct?

Edit:

So I went to my smf_log_packages on my database, and found 4 mods installed. All were set to 1 already on the theme installed column. I set them then to 0 to disable them. No change.

I'd like to get rid of all the packages at this point and not have anything but the default when it comes to registration/verification of members. I can't seem to get rid of the verification process I have.

Heya,

Ok, neither worked.

In my admin center, it still shows "no mods currently installed". Yet they're running.
Under the package manager, none of these mods are even listed.

I tried setting the database column to 0.
I also tried the fix_packages.php option, which showed the 4 mods running and I selected them as uninstalled.
But it's all still running.

Any ideas?

Very best,

Illori

what do you mean you selected them as uninstalled? you want to select them as installed not uninstalled.

Ahh thanks,

So I did this, and went to uninstall the packages from the package manager now that they show up there.

I'm met with the error: "Unable to find package file!"

Any ideas?

have you actually run the fix_packages.php script? you are not telling us step by step what you are doing.

if the package is still listed in your package manager and uninstall is showing then you dont need the fix_packages.php script.

it sounds like some packages may be listed as installed but the actual mod package is missing from the packages folder.

Kindred

oh...   I see
you delete the mod from your packages list (or manually deleted the files from the packages folder)

You should not do that...   you need to put the mod archive files back into your packages folder.

Heya,

Yeap, I ran the script. Looks like I'm missing files.

I guess. Somehow they're gone. But I didn't manually delete anything. So I'm not sure how the mod archive files went poof. And to top it off, they're outdated mods.

Any way to remove them completely?

Very best,

puit the mod archive files back in the Packages directory.

then you can actually DO the uninstall

Heya,

So these are outdated mods, and I don't have the original container files.
I found one of them, of the same version, and uploaded it. But when I try to perform the uninstall it still says error, and states it doesn't have the uninstaller.

I was looking under the packages backups directory and was wondering, can I use anything there to go back before some of these were installed somehow?

eesh... not sure how you did it, but you sure got your system in a whacky state.

Your best bet?   upload a clean set of files from the large upgrade archive file, upload a clean copy of your theme template files and truncate the smf_log_packages table in the database.

Thanks,

That's the kind of reset button I'm looking for I think.
