I just made a website with smf 2.0.2 and everytime I press browse packages it takes me to a white screen.

Whenever I try to install a package such as Simple Portal it gives me this.

Please, help me.................

Welcome to SMF  :)

I think this is what you're looking for  ;)  http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/What_the_white_screen_of_death_means_when_accessing_admin_or_package_installs

Also why are you using 2.0.2 if it's a new install?  You need to upgrade to 2.0.4 ASAP.

You don't understand the wiki page, or you don't understand how to upgrade to 2.0.4, or both?

The wiki page...

I don't wanna update because that's just my choice...

Let's clarify one other thing, who's your host?

What the wiki page is essentially saying is that you don't have enough memory, and that's why you're seeing the white screen.  The only way to increase your memory is to do one of the three things suggested, so:

1. Ask your host to increase your available memory.
2. Switch to a non-overselling host. There are a large number of those hosts listed in our Hosts and Hosting boards
3. See below for options that you can try (none are guaranteed to work) if you want to stay on your current host.

Those are your options.  Option 3 is probably not advisable if you're not comfortable with playing around with code, so you're looking at options 1 or 2.  My recommendation would be to go with the second option, as I don't think you'll have much luck with the first, but it does depend on who your host is.

Any particular reason why you "choose" not to update from a version that has known vulnerabilities that have been fixed in 2.0.4?

000webhost is my Host, but the weird thing is that another forums that my friend set up for me has the same host, but has no problems what so ever....

000webhost is known for this problem, and the only possible work around, and it says in the article it's not guaranteed to work, is to fiddle around with the code.  If you want to ensure that you can get rid of the white screen of death, then a better host is recommended.  If you want to have a look at other options, you could try the Hosting board.

If they were set up by your friend, then maybe you need to ask him/her about how (s)he did it :)?

I'm not a Support Specialist, so they may have further suggestions to offer, but based on what I've seen regarding advice to those in your position, it normally does revolve around changing the host.  Still, I'll leave to them at this point, as I'm out of ideas.

You're doing great Irisado  :)  I think you've covered everything known about the white-screen issue.

azain98, this is a host problem, not an SMF problem, and to date I am not aware of any 000webhost users who have been able to resolve the problem without changing to a better host.  You say your other forum on 000webhost works just fine, I would dare to add two words onto the end of that: "so far".  ;)

By all means speak with your host and see if they can help you increase your memory, but having seen many others in your situation, I don't hold out much hope for their cooperation.

Kindred

hosting24 and 000webhost seem to be the two hosts that factor most prevalently in these reports.
(And I do so wish that people would read the sticky posts and the manual/faw, since this user's questions have already been answered and covered several times in those locations.

azain98,
Upgrade. Now. By not upgrading, you put your site at risk. By putting your site at risk, you put all of your users' accounts at risk (see the news section right here on simplemachines.org for what happens then)

As for your white screen problem, you have an option.
It seems that the people who made the code edits as described have resolved their problem on 000webhost. The instructions are very straight forward.
Open the named file with a text editor or in your webhost admin panel's file editor.
find the code that looks like the indicated code
change the number in that code...
save file.

find another host.

Plain and simple.
