I just saw that SMF 2.0.5 has been released
Congrats to all the developers for that!!!!
But when I checked the admin panel there was no upgrade available to 2.0.5
Is this a beta version?
When will the update be offered?

http://download.simplemachines.org/

It's available already.  ;)

Installed the same way as a mod would be.

Illori

no you want http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/downloads/smf_patch_2.0.5.tar.gz as the link grumpy old sod gave is to the install or upgrade package which will override your existing files and uninstall the mods

also if you read the announcement it explains to run the scheduled task "Fetch Simple Machines Files" and you will then see the link to install the package in the package manager

TheListener

Illori I tried the link you give.

It didn't work for me.

No luck there either.

Illori

well both methods work just fine for many. if you have an issue you should bring it up to the devs so they can look into it.

What happens when you try to install that patch? What does your admin center show after you run the "Fetch Simple Machines Files" task?

Running the task has made the update show up for me on three different forums, one of which is on a different host than the other two.

I thought there was some automated thing to upgrade but I couldn't find it. So I went to the site like I did the time before but I didn't realise it would wipe my damn settings and remove my mods :( I am just not in the mood to go through everything with a fine tooth comb setting everything all up again. I wish it would have had a warning on the download screen. I have already done the upgrade via the website on both my sites. It is too late now.

TheListener

All you had to do was upgrade via the package manager.

I am sorry to hear that. Do you have a backup on file that you can restore from?

Chalky

If it wiped your mods I think you must have used the wrong package  :(. As Colin says though, restoring the backup you took before attempting the upgrade will put it back as it was before.
