Board redirection - can you open in a new window?

This was a topic mentioned back in 2009, but when I've tried following the suggested fix, I can't find the original code I'm supposed to be changing.  It came up again earlier this year:

Basically, if I have a board that redirects, I want it to open the redirect in a new window, so my forum remains open in another window.  Is that possible?

Ideally, I want to be able to specify this by board, rather than for the whole site, as some redirects will be internal, and some external.

As I said then, it's a pain in the crotch to do since you don't want it for all boards; you will end up needing to change the database, the code that saves boards to the database, the code that shows the form for editing boards, the code that loads the board index and the code that displays the board index.

Database aside, that's changes to 5 different files, each doing different things and no, it isn't documented anywhere.

Could the following mod not be massaged to perform what you're after...?

Redirected Boards in a new Tab

QuoteWith this little mod you can choose, which redirected boards should be opened in a new tab and which not

You can choose it through AdminCP -> Boards -> Modify -> Enable to open redirected boards in a new tab

That would actually do it completely - and I'm amazed it's actually been done. I know I implemented it for a site a while ago (which is how I knew what would have been required) but I didn't find any resources for it when I did it. Nice that it does exist as a mod.
