Index creation asking for log in every 10 mins or so

I try to create a large custom index, and it takes a long time. But the problem is that I am asked to log in every 10 mins or so, that means I need to be on the machine for the index to continue, otherwise it stops. Any suggestion for that so that I can leave the machine for hours unattended and have the index completed?

It shouldn't be asking for a log in any more regularly than hourly.

Though if your forum is that big, perhaps it's time to investigate Sphinx.

Yes, could be that. Still, takes many hours to complete and I wonder whether there is a way not asking me to log in (i.e. some setting somewhere in the code).

Sphinx is on the cards, after I move server and upgrade MySQL.
