Our club web site forum worked perfectly for about two years. Now it has gone, to be replaced by a blank white page.

Can anyone explain what has gone wrong?

a blank white screen is indicative of a php error...

What did you do recently? Install a mod? Update something on the site?

go to your file manager and look for a file called error.log
look at the recent errors and paste the to a message here

And if you can't even get to your package manager tab i would suggest as first thing to restore a backup from your backup folder, should be a path like this "forum/packages/backups".
There you can find all the automatic backups your smf has made before and after installing every single mod so if you installed a mod that messed up your site (like kindred suggested) you should first try to get it back from those backups or you can do THIS PROCEDURE in order to repair the settings and get it back to work.

It's so powerful that on this post and even in the two PMs you sent me,you still answered my question very quickly and you're apologizing for the delay. You're the #1 support I've probably ever encountered man, so much respect for that. Thank you, and get better soon.

I'll keep this in my siggy for a while just to remind me that someone appreciated what I did while others didn't.

Thanks guys for the rapid response. Let me explain a bit further.

1. The forum was set up by another club member. I have been running it for the last 2 years as Webmaster, so my personal privileges are limited. I have a blank white screen, so no ability to log in as myself or Webmaster.

2. I personally have made no changes to the Forum

3. So who should I be looking to within my club to sort this out. Should there be someone with the necessary privileges, say an administrator or similar?

You can try this if you can't login as i said ;) i am pretty sure that kindred would tell you the same, he will surely say that i am wrong otherwise. As you can see he has like 38k messages and i have like 50 but i've seen a lot of problems simlar to this and the solution has always been the one i linked to you so that's why it's worth giving it a try.

Flavio...    what he's encountering has nothing to do with the package manager...
and what I asked him to look at is the error.log file... which has nothing to do with SMF - the only way to get that file is through the HOSTING FILE MANAGER (or maybe FTP)

jbafalcon,

you need to get the error.log in order to figure out what is wrong.

My bad i thought you were talking about the error log in the admin section, sorry. I know about that other file just didn't think about it in the first place.
