Hi

I've just transferred my forum to a new host and now the special characters are showing up as how can I solve this so they show up as normal again?

Here is an example page http://forum.viewfromtheboundary.com/index.php?topic=1908.0

Thanks in advance :)

you could be in trouble.

your old host had one set of collations for the database, and when you exported or imported, you used a different set.

The only way to fix this is to confirm that the old database was correctly exported and reimport with the utf-8 collation

I've just spoke to my host and he said that the data that was imported was identical to what was downloaded from the old host so he wasnt sure what you meant by that.

Kindred

the DATA might be identical... but I suspect the COLLATION of the database tables was wrong in either the export, the import of both.....

Could I have a bit of guidance on how to solve this as I have no idea where to start :)

If you go on a user and show posts the post shows up fine, its just when you actually visit the post the special characters dont show up, does anyone know the steps to go about solving this?
