Hi there,

I tried upgrading my Apache and PHP versions to 2.4 and 5.6 respectively recently as another forum software that i was using required the upgraded.

After compiling the new Apache via EasyApache in cPanel however, my SMF site stopped working with a 500 Internal Server Error and the site was not able to load.

Since i did not change anything other than upgrading the Apache and PHP versions, i did a rollback and re-compiled Apache 2.2 and 5.5 and my SMF was alive again.

Does SMF not support Apache 2.4/PHP 5.6?

Appreciate any advice.

Thank you!

I should point out that i also enabled "mbstring", "mysqli", and the "zip" extensions under the exhaustive options list of the compiler. Not sure if this had any effect.

I am now trying to recompile with Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.6 to see which is the culprit.

my localhost has been running on apache 2.4.9 for a good long while without issues. did you check your error log to find out why it is giving you a 500 error?

No i haven't had the chance to.

Seems like the issue was indeed with Apache 2.4 (might be isolated just to me). I recompile with Apache 2.2, PHP 5.6, mbstring, zip, mysqli enable and all is good now.

I guess i can live with Apache 2.2 for awhile longer..

Will try and find out what the issue was with the 2.4 build that caused the 500 Internal Server Error.
