Uninstalled a package (keep db) restored forum files, cant uninstall?

I uninstalled a package and checked to keep the database untouched, then, after I decided I wanted to return to the state before I uninstalled it, I uploaded a backup of the forum files. It shows the package as being installed, but now the uninstall option is missing. Is his because the database changed after I uninstalled it, since I haven't restored my database backup as well as the files? Can I import whatever database information is needed to allow it for uninstalllatiin without having to restore the  entire database? Or can I tool fix it so the uninstall  option becomes available again?

It was simple portal 2.5 by the way.

So your forum files have SimplePortal removed but you still have lingering data from SimplePortal in your database, correct? As far as I know, SimplePortal doesn't offer an easy tool to remove the database information it inserted during the install. So you have one of four options here:
1) You can manually remove the database tables/inserts it made during the install by referencing the "install.php" file
2) You can install the mod again, and try uninstalling it and selecting the option to remove the database changes
3) You can restore a database backup of before you installed the mod however you'll lose any data (posts, topics, new members) that occurred after that point of time
4) Do nothing, having the SimplePortal database tables won't really affect anything since your forum files aren't calling to it...unless of course you're running out of diskspace
