how to customize the address bar?

hi..,

I would like to ask some one know how to change on the address bar showing board name instead of
board id and topic id

ex: http://myforum.com/index.php/board,5.0.html
      http://myforum.com/index.php/topic,702.0.html

this is normal way showing on the address bar my forum but some of smf forum site using another way like this

ex: http://myforum.com/index.php/boardname
      http://myforum.com/index.php/topicname

so please somebody knows how to change the form showing board and topic names instead of board and topic id

please let me know how to do it

well, first of all, you should turn off the so-called "sef urls" in smf admin (the things that are adding the .html to your urls)


second, you would need to install the mod called pretty urls.
However, that being said, the question is -- WHY do you want those URLs?
If you think that it will improve your search engine rating....   it will not, really...

I think it's under general settings in the admin.

As for the mod...  You'll need to ask for help in the support topic dedicated to supporting the prettyurls mod...  but it works fine for hundreds of others.
