Notifications emails are in plain text?

Greetings everybody.

I just noticed that email notifications seem to be plain text rather than html. This means I cannot rely on the email notifications to display clickable links behind standard text: only explicit links are interpreted as links by email clients.

Is this the normal behavior? Is there an option to have html-based notifications?

this is normal and there is no option to make them html. it is possible if they are html they can more easily be considered spam and not even make the inbox of your users.
